Join Young Professionals of Albuquerque for YPA Does JA for a Day, a hands-on volunteer experience where you’ll step into the classroom and help inspire the next generation through financial literacy, career readiness, and entrepreneurship.
What You’ll Do
Work directly with K–3rd grade students in a classroom setting
Lead interactive, easy-to-follow lessons (all materials provided)
Share real-world insights to help students connect learning to life
Guide students through three hands-on activities focused on:
Financial literacy
Entrepreneurship
Work readiness
This one-day commitment is designed to be fun, engaging, and impactful. No teaching experience needed. Just bring your energy and willingness to connect.

Join YPA for an afternoon at BeKind Yoga & Pilates. We will be rolling out the mats for a guided yoga session designed to help young professionals reset, recharge, and move their bodies.

YPA: Ronald McDonald Guest Chef Night
Join YPA for a heartfelt evening as we step in as guest chefs at the Ronald McDonald House. We’ll be preparing a comforting spaghetti and meatballs dinner to give their amazing staff a well-earned break during the busy holiday season.
Get ready for a joyful night filled with cooking, connection and community impact. YPA will be providing the recipe, ingredients and volunteers to bring this warm and delicious meal to life.
In addition to preparing dinner, volunteers will have the chance to wrap holiday gifts and spend time watching festive movies with the kids staying at the House.

The City Wide Mixer is the signature networking event of Young Professionals of Albuquerque (YPA)—designed to unite ambitious professionals across industries for an evening of high-energy connection, collaboration, and community. This is a FREE event - everyone is welcome!
Last year, the Mixer brought together over 300 attendees from across the region, and we expect an even larger crowd this year. YPA currently has almost 200 active, paying members representing a dynamic range of industries including tech, marketing, STEM, insurance, creative fields, nonprofit, education, and finance.

Join YPA for an exciting day of style, philanthropy, and fun at Derby Day NM - and help us make a difference in the community! We'll be volunteering at Winrock Park for this exclusive benefit event that combines the glamour of the Kentucky Derby with the support for a great cause.
Event Highlights include Live Music, Whiskey Tastings, Casino Games, Gourmet Food, Premium Cigars, and Exciting Prizes.
All proceeds benefit the New Mexico Cancer Center Foundation, a local nonprofit supporting the non-medical financial needs of cancer patients across New Mexico.

YPA Connects: John Chavez, Managing Director of the New Mexico Startup Factory
Join the Young Professionals of Albuquerque for an evening of professional development hosted by the New Mexico Startup Factory. John Chavez, Managing Director of the New Mexico Startup Factory, will be discussing small business and entrepreneurship in New Mexico. This event is being held at the New Mexico Startup Factory offices. Food and drinks will be provided.
Parking is along the residential streets. Please be mindful of driveways and signage.
About the New Mexico Startup Factory:
The New Mexico Start-Up Factory™ is bringing laboratory technologies to market. In our innovative model we work with scientists looking to commercialize their technologies. Through our program, technologists are coached through validation of the technology and market, and are then paired with the right management team. A commercialization and business plan/model is formed and if all signs point to a sound market and promising technological development, a company is formed.
About John Chavez:
Mr. Chavez currently serves as the Managing Director for the New Mexico Start-Up Factory I, II and III. He was the President of New Mexico Angels for over 12 years and has been an active investor for over 15 years.
Mr. Chavez has been an integral part of New Mexico’s economic development ecosystem. He is responsible for creating technology showcase forums that have allowed Angel technology partners like Los Alamos National Laboratory, Sandia National Laboratories, the University of New Mexico and New Mexico State University to have the opportunity of presenting technologies available for licensing to Angel members, Venture Capitalists and guests.
In addition to funding new companies, John is an avid entrepreneur. In 2012, he co-founded the New Mexico Start-Up Factory I and successfully launched 5 companies. Today, the Start-Up Factory now has 3 portfolios and has created 13 companies all based in New Mexico.

YPA x Habitat for Humanity
Join Young Professionals of Albuquerque on Saturday, February 22nd, for a day of community engagement. We will be volunteering with Habitat for Humanity on repair projects for our local community.
We will be helping anything from wall layout/window & door frames, build & stand walls, wall sheathing, set trusses, sub-fascia, roof deck/underlayment, lay shingles, house wrap, windows, DOW board, soffit, prime & paint walls/ceiling, hang doors, baseboard, window sills, shelving, landscaping, detail/punch, to readying the house for partner family move in. Tools and materials will be provided along with some snacks and lunch.
Please come in work clothes – closed toed shoes, long jeans/pants (no shorts), and clothes that can get dirty and torn.
